I haven't written in a few days so I decided to make time for at least a short blog tonight. Erin's been working hard on the deck painting this week and it's looking really good. I should be able to start helping her again Friday night. Since my last post I've been pretty lazy, just watching movies and of course one of the best MLB All-Star games ever. Even though the NL lost, I was glad to see two solid outings by the Rockies Matt Holliday and Aaron Cook. Cook especially showed what he was made of when 2 errors by Uggla at second forced him into a 2nd and third with no outs and the AL only needing a base hit or a sac fly to get a walk off win. Cook took Uggla on his back and carried him out of that inning like the professional that he is. Cook stayed in for two more innings of greatness check out the highlights here:http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=col
As I mentioned before the AL ended up winning, but you can see from the highlights that there were quite a few close plays at the plate in those extra innings, with any of those going wrong and the game is over on the spot. As I write this the Rockies are back in Denver and they appear to be trying to change their losing ways. They just scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 5-3. One more good inning out of Ubaldo and we'll just have to bite our nails while Corpus and Fuentes do their thing.
In order to prevent this blog from becoming a daily rant about how lazy I am and how much I should be running, I actually went for a run tonight. It had been almost a month since my last and I felt it before I even got up the first hill. For those that don't know my house is surrounded by hills, you pretty much can't run any direction without having to hit quite a few hills. Instead of complaining, I think of it as making me better for those days that I run on flat ground, similar to the altitude up here in Colorado. It went slow and hard, but I didn't take any walk breaks, so at least I have htat going for me. I did just under a mile and a half. My normal route around the neighborhood is about 2.4 miles, but I have an easy detour that I can use to shorten it on easy days. I do most of my running on that 2+ mile route, to date my longest run has been 5K. I'm planning on running a 10K at the end of August, so I will be upping my miles quite a bit over the next few weeks. I will be running in the Nike+ world race, I chose to run for the Livestrong charity. There was a few different charities to choose from. If any of you are in western Colorado and are running in it also let me know.
As mentioned earlier, we watched a few movies this week. Actually we'ved watched one movie and are planning another for this evening. Tonight is vantage point, which I've heard mixed reviews on. Earlier this week we saw the Bank Job. I was a big fan of Jason Stathom when he first came on the scene.(Lock, stock; Snatch; the Italian Job) Unfortunatley, every movie I've seen him in since those has been horrible. This one definetley wasn't horrible, but it didn't live up to the promise of the most entertaining movie of the year. I was hoping that it would be great, but we both enjoyed it even if it had a few flaws. At least it wasn't as bad as The Happening, ofcourse I'm not sure if I've ever seen a movie as bad as that one. So far, I would have to say that the most entertaining movie I've seen this year would be In Bruges. If you haven't seen it, I won't ruin it for you. Just rent it this weekend, you won't be dissappointed. One warning, it is a little graphic, but not worse than some of the more popular movies out there. You may be interested to see the softer side of these two hitmen; parts that are usually portrayed as hard, uncaring, unfeeling bad A's. Don't get me wrong, these guys are bad A, they just happen to be human also. If you do see it, leave a comment and let me know what you think. I think that's enough for tonight, check you all later. Keep running!
