LAZ-E
I slept in this morning and didn't get my run in. I reasoned with myself that I would have tonight once it cooled off. We tried to continue painting the deck today, but ran out of paint. Why not buy more you ask? Because, in order to save a few bucks, we bought it at a local place in town that is not open on Sunday. No problem, everybody deserves a day off right? We decided to take the kids to see WALL-E. Seventy dollars later(it was a matinee), we took our seats. We had 3 cokes, my wife and I shared one, some horrible invention called muddy bears, some sour patch kids(my wife's must have) and a free small popcorn, gotta love the rewards card. I'm going to come right out and say that we all enjoyed this movie, but I think what hit hard was the not so subtle message that us Americans are overweight, lazy, slobs. Leave it to a cartoon about a trash collecting robot which saves the world to make we wish I would have woken up this morning and ran my stupid two miles. Towards the climax of the film when the lazy humans realized that they could actually stand and walk on those odd looking things protruding from their hips, I had what Michael Scott would call an epiphery. Or, at least I should have. Sitting their with my shared coke and my half eaten free popcorn I realized that I need to be harder on myself. Before vacation I was addicted to running, now I don't even want to open the little closet door that holds my New Balance. Yes I run in NB's, they fit, their cheap and my feet never hurt. Of course that may have something to do with the fact that I haven't ran in two weeks. Anyway, back to the matter at hand, I didn't run this morning, I feel like crap and I have some pompous Hollywood types reminding me of it for almost two hours. On top of everything, I paid to have them remind me how lazy I am. So, I decide right their that I will run tonight no matter what. So what do you think happened? That's right we went out for a few hours that turned into six and a long detour and the local Wal-Mart. It's now dark. I still haven't run and I need to go to bed so I can get up and go to work in the morning. We have some stupid dinner meeting Monday night so, I am going to try to squeeze in one mile before dinner. Chances are my NB's will last another ten years at the rate I'm using them. So, in conclusion, go see WALL-E. You'll love it.
